Morning Cruise Update

31 December 2007.

Let me just say, YO! YO!! YO!!! Seeing that HO! HO!! HO!!! Is over and done for this year…Hey, We in da HOUSE!!!!! How are you doing? I hope you’re doing good. It has been a while since I last spoke to you hey?I hope you had a good Christmas though and that you had a very safe Festive Season till now. Well, I am just dropping by for the last time for 2007, not with what we had done on the show, not with quotes, or cute phrases or anything else. I just fell in to wish you well for the new year that’s impatiently waiting.

2007 Was a year full of drama ups and downs, No No, not that kind you silly monkey, I mean…Ag, you know what I mean. What I wanted to say was, that 2007 was a year that we went through quite a lot, We learned from each other, We were sometimes, even skelling at each other, but hey, we made it, so I suppose it was not so bad after all hey? So now only good times are ahead, or that is what I want to wish you for 2008.

I suppose many would embark on something new, many would not, and that’s ok. So, if you’re commencing on something new, good luck, all the success, No, not all of it, Leave some for me, HEHEHEHEEHE, but may the scales tip in your favor and may you make the journey, and not the journey make you.

If you’re not embarking on something new, May all your other dreams come true, as long as they are positively driven, building on on the people around you. May your voyage be of such a nature that it’s inscribed in the look of your eyes.
So, all the well wishes for 2008 and may you prosper in every way like you’ve never prospered before.

Well, that’s how we end for today, so from the Morning Cruise Crew Adrian and Producer Joy, Thank you for your support through out the year, see you next year, have a good one, HAVE FUN.
Oh, let us know where da party at! HAHAHAHE.

Morning Cruise Update

13 December 2007.

Hello there. How are you doing on this Thursday afternoon? I hope I find you to be well and much better than what I am doing. You are presumably thinking what is he on again? Well, let me fill you in. This morning when I got to my destination, (not Bush Radio) a particular gentleman would not let me through the door I normaly go through. I may be corrected here, but I think the door is designed for people with disabilities to pass so you don’t have to struggle with the rotating door. Now, normaly I’d be very accommodating, but what really upset me is the way at which the gentleman was shouting at me not even greeting. He just kept on shouting, "THIS WAY, THIS WAY" and when I asked him why he is shouting at me, he pointed at my dad who was traveling with me and said: "I’m speaking to the guy who’s guiding you". When I asked for the manager, his reply was: "He’s upstairs" So, I again asked to speak to the manager and his reply this time was: "He’s in Heaven". I am looking at taking the matter further , the reason for this is, I don’t want it to happen to other people who are blind, who has another disability or I would not want this to happen to anybody whether you have a disability or not. I think the gentleman need to go for anger management…speaking of which, this is what happened on the show for today.

11:05 During this interview we spoke about anger and stress management. Shelton Kartun, the Director for The Anger Management Centre spoke to us about this topic. We touched on quite a number of things during this interview. Shelton spoke to us how one can try and deal with one’s anger affectively. They run a programme at the centre that deals with this kind of issue. So if you wish to have more information, you may make contact with them on the details below.

Hello’s. How are you doing today? Or…Is that a silly question? I’m just thinking it’s Friday… I suppose the week had been a bit long for many people hey, but many people are having break-ups, well, not people, but companies and many are having office parties. So, you’ll be taking a well deserved break sooner than you think. So, if you’re going away for the weekend or for the school holidays, take it easy, follow those safe folloing distances and come back in one piece.

Morning Cruise Update

06 December 2007.

Hey there. How are you on this Thursday afternoon? I hope I find you to be well. I was just thinking you know. So often we listen to the radio and don’t know anything about the hard work that go into a three hour show such as The Morning Cruise. You may have heard radio presenters speak about a producer? The producer works hard on what you hear on your radio. I suppose I can say a producer takes a hard knock when the show does not go well particularly in terms of interviews, because they are scheduled at a certain time. When people don’t rock up for an interview, cancel at the last minute, or confirm and are not at the telephone when we call, the producer is the one who feels disappointed even if there is no pressure what so ever. I think a producer feels he/she is disappointing the listeners more by not delivering what is expected of him/her. So, here producers are, having this great idea from conception to the time when the idea is to be delivered and…Nothing…I think that must be very disappointing. Don’t you?
So, a BIG, BIG, BIG THANK YOU to The Morning cruise producer, Joy for the hard work she is putting into the show. We do appreciate it. I suppose it does not always look like it hey? Well, I leave you with that thought for today, but before I go, here is today’s quote. Enjoy!!!

Our quote for today was: When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen. – Ernest Hemingway
I think it’s suitable for the message about producers hey?

Wel, that’s all I have on my mind…Well, that’s not quite true…HEHEHEHEEHE. So, from me Adrian, you must have a lekker day in the company of Bush Radio 89.5 fm, have a good one, HAVE FUN.

Well, today on the show we had our first birthday shouts that we sent when we phoned aunty Vera to say happy belated birthday. That came from aunty Vell and Elroy. Accomplished baritone Evan Schoombie is returning to Cape Town after a long stint overseas. Schoombie was a familiar face in musical theatre in the Mother
City during the nineties, performing the leading role in various productions such as Asjas-Passie, Jacques Brel is alive and well and living in Paris,
A touch of Webber and a taste of Rice and Song and Dance Variations (with the acclaimed Free Flight Dance Company).
At the height of his career he felt to give something back to the community which resulted in his leaving for overseas to be involved in various gospel
productions and theatre schools. Since returning to South Africa four years ago, he has produced and starred in two new productions that have played to
full houses across the nation: An evening with Brel & Gershwin and Andrew Lloyd Webber Tribute.
Schoombie will be performing at the Obz CafĂ© Theatre from 3 – 5 October as well as from 17 – 20 October in the production Standing Ovation. Schoombie’s
passionate performance is complemented by dexterous pianist Drini Malan-Botha. The show includes hits such as Madeleine, If you go away, The old folks
and Amsterdam by Brel as well as Music of the night, Magical Mr. Mistoffelees and Unexpected song by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Schoombie’s portrayal of Herman
van Veen’s Suzanne and Ik hou van jou are sure to cloud the eye, and a few of his original Afrikaans story-songs round off this beautiful bouquet.
Says Schoombie: ‘I believe that with more life experience one can better interpret the songs of passionate composers such as Brel and Webber. My voice has
also matured and I have discovered some wonderful talent in the Southern Cape, where I now reside, and have included some of these artists into my new
productions.

The cast is quite a big cast and took them quite some time to put together the play seeing that it is such a big production. Not only did the children work on this play, but the family was in on this as well, with helping with what ever they could. I do think it is well supporting. Don’t you think so? The play is starting tonight, so it is not to late for you to get some tickets. So, for more information or how you can book your tickets, you may make contact with them by using the number below. Annually, during this period, the Department of Education conducts social mobilisation campaigns in all educational institutions through life skills, HIV and AIDS activities. The decision to declare September as "Life Skills: HIV and AIDS Month", came with the realisation that the commemoration of World AIDS Day, on 1 December, falls at a time in the education calendar, when learners are either busy with end of the year examinations or have already gone on holiday.
The objectives of the campaign are to:
* strengthen awareness amongst learners, educators and communities on Life Skills, HIV and AIDS* encourage schools, communities, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and faith-based organisations (FBOs) to support the Department of Education in keeping children in schools, and * nurture a culture of documenting best practice and sharing ideas across schools.
The government’s Caring Together for Children (CT4T) campaign will guide this year’s Life Skills: HIV and AIDS activities.School-based activities will include a range of activities whose focus will be abstinence, HIV and teenage pregnancy prevention, substance abuse, care and support, child abuse and health relationships amongst learners. All these activities will take place as a build up to World AIDS Day on 1 December around the theme "A Nation Caring for Children". Lessons learnt and best practice across the system will be documented in order to be shared.

10:35 We had a career interview for today. We spoke to an exceptional woman who is in the Hotel industry. She is a General Manager and happily spoke to us about her daily tasks. Annie Claude Bergonzoli is very busy in what she is doing and is doing it very well. Well, you don’t have to believe me if you don’t want to, you can call them on this number. (021) 419-2392

11:05 On a Friday we normaly try and support local talent. So, we had the gentleman from Cry baby entertainment in the studio with us. (CEO) Damiaaan (I did not spell that incorrectly by the way) and an Artist Sherwon spoke to us about the Cry Baby entertainment and the performances they have coming in the next couple of weeks, but for more information on that, check out our daily Information Guide just before ten. If you’re an artist and would like to get in contact with them just check the details below. 072 735 3921

Morning Cruise Update

30/08/07.
Hi there. Welcome to what I thought was going to be a nice and warmish day, en toe nou nie, but as usual the Morning Cruise made it Hot for you. So, with out having to keep you for much longer, here is what we had done for the day.
11:05 You know how much I normaly go on about local talent with bigger than international standards, cause we have that in Cape Town you know. Well, today we spoke about an event that is happening this Saturday 01 September 2007. It is beeing held by the Nyanga Arts Development Centre. We spoke to the Project Administrator Michael Mayeki. As he explained there will be lots to see, do, buy and much, much more. So, if you want to know more about the event the Centre or the next event they are pulling out of the hat, view the details below. SUPPORT LOCAL TALENT!!!
Nyanga Arts Developments Centre. Tel. (021) 385-1751.
11:35 Some times we aske outselves, how can I help? How can I make a difference? Can I make a difference? Well, the answer is easy. Yes!!!I can. If you think you might not be strong enough, get some strenth from the children of the Chaeli Campaign. A Campaign that was started by children, but before I give it all away, I’ll list the details below and you can make contact with them to find out more about them or the exciting events they have running in September and October 2007. We spoke to the Fund Raiser, Veronica Pronk. If you have more questions bout them or how they got started, (maybe you’d like some tips on starting something similar) give them a Buzz, I’m sure they’ll help.

Morning Cruise Update

BLOG POST 29/08/07.

Hey there. Hope I find you to be well today. I suppose you’re here to find out what we had done on the show for today? Well, here we go.
10:35 Have you ever had the questions in your head of, am I fit to be a parent? Where did I go wrong? Why is my son/daughter acting that way? If you don’t have children, yourMom or Dad might have been asking these questions. Before you think there is no help, think again, there might be. This is what we spoke about, during our first interview. The lady we spoke to was, Mrs Matroos (CEO) for the Chrysalis Academy. She spoke extensively about the work they do. Not only do they work with young people, but with the parents as well, so you can work together as a family. So, if you wish to have more info, here are the details and the person you can ask for. All of the best.
Chrysalis Academy hosts workshops for parents (workshop being a parent that my child needs) Phundiswa (Life coach). (021) 712- 1023.

11:05 Next in line we spoke about about a programme called Community Leadership Academy. Representing the ESFA Institute speaking to us about the programme (Community Leadership Academy) was Charl Fredericks. It is an interesting venture that they are on for young people who want to make a difference in there comunities. If I were you, I’d try it out. You don’t just bring about change within your life, but the lives of people you care about. So, for more info or where you can get an application form, contact the Institute on the number below. Hope it works out for you.
EFSA Institute Tel. (021) 882-8996.

11:35 The last interview we had done for today was about NICRO. NO! That is not the name of a person. NICRO is short for (National Institute for Crime Prevention and the Reintegration of Offenders). I suppose that says it all hey? We had an interview wit Cindy Cellierf (area co-ordinator). Here are some of the programmes they have running listed below. I did not write this, I’m not that good.
he Youth Empowerment Scheme (YES), a life-skills programme of 6 weeks;
Pre-Trial Community Service (PTCS), in terms of which the offender performs community service at a non-profit organisation;
Victim-Offender Mediation (VOM), in which the victim and offender meet and work out a mutually acceptable agreement;
Family Group Conferences, which are similar to VOM, except they involve the families of the victim and offender in the process; and
The Journey, aimed at high-risk children; the programme lasts between three and 12 months and involves life-skills training amongst other things.
So, if you wish to have a bit more information about them or wish to help in some way, form, shape or another, you can contact them on the number that follows.
NICRO Tel.

Well, my comments are short and sweet today, just like me. HEHEHEHEEHEHEE. Just joking. Well, short I am, sweet? That you’ll have to find out by listening to the show, from nine to noon. That’s it from me Adrian, you must have a lekker day in the company of Bush Radio 89.5 fm, have a good one, HAVE FUN.
