Morning Cruise Update

30 January 2008. Blog Post.

Hello Hello! How are you keeping? I hope you are doing very well on this Wednesday afternoon. I think we once again have very nice weather for a couple of days now hey? Well, we were suppose to have a nice and full show for you, but unfortunately things did not work out that way. These things happen I suppose hey? We had a good show anyway despite the fact that things did not work out the way they were planned. Well, this is what happened on the show for today.

10:35 For our first interview we spoke to Elise Burns- Hoffman about her career as an Incapacity and claims consultant. It does seem like Elise is really enjoying what she is doing on a daily basis seeing that she has been doing this for a number of years. Elise spoke to us about her journey from when she started studying Occupational Therapy to how she started off working. So for more info you may make contact with them on the details below.
Elise Tel: (021) 789- 0303.

1105 For our second interview we spoke about a book called LOOK AT ME!!!! The author of the book, Marleen Laroux spoke to us about the reason for the book as well as the impact she wants to make with it. The book features 23 ladies each with a different disability telling their own story, the sensual side to them and how to overcome the challenges they’re faced with. From what I can tell, it is a book worth getting your hands on and who knows? It will hopefully change the way you look at a woman with a disability. The book is being launched this coming Friday. So, if you’d like to get a copy you may get in contact with the Artscape or visit the website below.

Charmaine allso spoke to us about the organization called GRACE (Get Real, Awareness Counseling and Education) and the programmes and campaigns they have running such as the Adopt a HIV Campaign. The way it works is you make a financial contribution to someone living with HIV so the person would be able to afford what is beeing called immune boosters. They’re allso paying attention to stigma and discrimination that is still rife in our communities. So, for more information or if you want to help them in any way, you are most welcome to make contact with them on the details below.
