TIP OF THE DAY
How to Find Cheap Entertainment

Step1Check local college campuses for student musical performances, film festivals, art exhibits, theater productions, dance recitals, or sporting events. You will find that these events are free or incredibly inexpensive to attend.

Step2At your local public library you can get DVDs and books for free. Think how much you’ll save! Invite family and friends over for movie night, or make it a special evening at home with the one you love.

Step3Watch the newspaper for special discount days at theaters, museums, galleries, zoos and parks. Some offer free admission on certain days of the month to promote an exhibit or bring in first-time visitors who will return again (and oh yeah, pay the next time).

Step4Have kids? You will need a babysitter for those grown-up evenings out. Instead of paying a babysitter, work with a relative or friend and trade off watching each other's kids. This is a great way to save money.

Step5You may find that you can get cheap tickets to movies, theater productions and other shows if you attend in the early afternoon instead of the evening time.

Step6Look for places where you can buy tickets in bulk to get a 10% (or more) discount to exhibitions and events. What a great way to share the fun with friends or relatives to get the lower rate.

Step7Don’t overlook some freebies or inexpensive entertaining event like hiking, picnicing, bird watching, fishing, kayaking or camping.

Step8Get friends together to create a book club or wine tasting club where each friend brings a bottle of wine or cheese and crackers. Needless to say, ensure there is a designated driver; otherwise, plan for overnight guests, which can be fun too!

Step9You could host a campout, or volley ball, badminton, croquet, Frisbees, or softball games in your yard. Add a garden sprinkler for the kiddies. Toss in a barbecue, asking friends to bring a covered dish or package of beverages to share. If you have a pool, even more fun!
