WORD(s) OF THE DAY

dipsomania [dip'-sah-MAY-nee-ah]: an intense persistent desire to drink alcoholic beverages. .........If you suffer from dipsomania you’ll be a dipsomaniac.

S.A TRIVIA QUESTION

10 million people speak the language and most of these people live in South Africa. To 24% of South Africans, consider it to be their home language. 50 percent of the South Africa’s inhabitants understand the language.
What South African language am I talking about:
A – Sotho B – English C - IsiZulu.

The answer is C - IsiZulu.

.....here's some info
Zulu falls under the Nguni group and is one of the Bantu languages. The Zulu nation came into existence around the 14th century. Although there are many Bantu migrants, back then Zulu language adopted many of the sounds that make up the language from the San and from the Khoi.
DID YOU KNOW

the Emmy award was first called "Immy"
The name "Immy" was used for a number of years until Academy members changed it to Emmy, as more appropriate for a female statuette. The Emmy was created by television engineer Louis McManus, who modelled it after his wife.
The Emmy is a winged woman holding an atom. The wings represent the muse of art, and the atom the electron of science. The statuettes are made of gold, silver, nickel and copper. They are handcast, buffed and hand polished. Each one takes 5 hours to make.

ALSO……… DID YOU KNOW Recipes for placing meat between slices of bread date back to Roman times. However, that was for steak, not minced meat. Thus, the steak burger is older than the hamburger!

TIP OF THE DAY
How to Learn if a Business Offer Is Legitimate

Take a careful look at the offer. Ask for a copy of the contract if one is available.

Read through the contract, making notes of things that don't seem quite right to you. Highlight parts of it for future reference. Don't worry if you can't put your finger on the reason why something isn't right, just highlight what makes you suspicious.

Do some research about the company. If it's a new company, be suspicious. Go to it's website. If there are ads and things on the page this suggests the company isn't making enough money to buy a domain name and support it without ads. Be suspicious of ad-riddled pages or a sloppily-designed site.

Ask if they have any brochures, etc, for the company. If they do, this is a good sign.

Ask people you know in the industry what they think of the offer. They might know if it sounds legit or not.

Go back to the contract you reviewed and do some research about the specific sections that made you nervous. Talk to the company about these sections. They should be business-like, and professional. If you feel like they are trying to sweet-talk you be extremely wary.

If you feel it is necessary, talk to a contract lawyer or a friend experienced in this area.

Check out the company with the Better Business Bureau (or the equivalent consumer protection agency in your country).

If it sounds to good to be true, it is.

  • Be wary of large amounts of money. These can be the sign of a scam.
Don't leave a perfectly good job for a possible scam. Make sure you have checked out all the details.
If the offer is for employment or they are going to pay you for a service, make sure they have a contract. If they don't, refuse the offer unless they can create a legit contract. .
Never get involved with a business that wants money from you, legitimate businesses will never require money from you.

WE ALSO FEATURED:

An interview with Benita from the Overeaters Anonymous. She told us about the facts of compulsive eating, the dangers and in her opinion a way to prevent and stop it. You can check out their website: http://www.oa.org/
