~@~~GENDER HUB~~@~
By Denisia Adams

Hello there to you how you doing today, I'm sure you good and safe because yessie the weather in Cape Town is rather scary, lots of rain and strong wind. Now together they are not your friends..... Anyway the show went on despite the fact that yesterday Omniscient Tuseday didn't air due some technical problems, Bushradio as a whole didn't air only until past two the afternoon...... Well, back to the positives the Gender Hub definitely took place we had loads of fun on the show. We brought you the word of the day, S.A Trivia Question, did you knows, Tip of the day, info guide, interviews as well as the quote at the end of the show.

We also discussed how people these days are obsessed with themselves. Almost all people have pictures of themselves on their phones..I just want to know why…. The most non photogenic, coy or introverted person has a picture of themselves put as there wallpaper. Before it would just be seen as being vain and usually the kind of people that do this was obvious candidates………… and to top it off there’s at least 50 pictures of themselves in various and should I say “creative” position and don’t forget everyone thinks they a photographer, it’s hilarious…. Tell me why some of you do that is to update your facebook does it give you confidence, I'm confused.

TIP OF THE DAY
How To Live In the Moment ( focus on the journey and not the destination)

Take notice of the world around you. No matter what you're doing, try to find something beautiful around you. Realizing these small things can bring life and happiness even to the most boring or routine days. Be thankful for those little things.

Focus on whatver you doing Even if you're just walking, or wiping the counter, how does it feel? You probably thinking about buying bread and milk after work, the weekend or maybe about someone who hurt you. Let those thoughts go and focus on what is (not what was, or what could be). Pretend it's the very last time you'll ever experience whatever you're experiencing. Have you ever been so occupied with something that it seemed like the rest of the world just disappeared? Living in the moment is about creating that state of mind at any time.
Slow down, and try to savor the present.

Smile when you wake up. You can set the tone of appreciation and awareness for the next 24 hours by simply waking up and smiling.[1] Don't wake up with a groan and a smash of your alarm clock. There's scientific proof that the expressions that you make with your face can actually influence how you feel.

Commit random, spontaneous acts of kindness. Whether it's donating 1 dollar to a fund at the pharmacy, picking up litter, or helping victims of natural disasters Even the smallest thing, like complimenting someone, can bring joy, keep alert in every moment of your day for some way in which you can make the world a better place.

Minimize activities that dull your awareness of the moment. For most people,
watching television puts you in a passive state of mind, and time slips right by. Do things that are active, and that encourage you to look around and engage the world in that moment. Gardening, playing a game, knitting, and playing an instrument are all activities that lend themselves to mindfulness. So get off the computer!

WE ALSO FEATURED:

An interview with Anton Pretorius a column writer. He joined us to discussed one of his column claiming that men can teach women a thing or two about. It was a very interesting interview, but being a woman I'm kind of 50/50 on this topic.

We also interviewed Des van Niekerk from a men organisation called CASE. He joined me in the studio to discuss our gender hub topic, single parents or specifically single fathers.

Then from a women's perspective we were joined telephonically by Anita Grant social worker and councillor at the parent centre to discuss some of the issues faced by single mothers etc.
