GENDER HUB
by Denisia Adams

Good day to you and what a good day it is well in Cape Town at least with temperatures reaching 32 degrees. Back to the show it was Gender Hub Wednesday, a show based around gender issues. We still had the regulars such as the word of the day, the S.A Trivia Question, tips, did you knows , the Quote at the end of the show also we discuss or chat about different topics here, if you’d like a specific subject or topic to be discussed email that to mc@bushradio.co.za. …… the Morning Cruise doesn’t stop there we also had info guide also interesting interviews that took place throughout the day.

Now have you ever felt that being a male or female in your parents home that you sister or brother seems to be more favoured. You’ve always felt that because his a male he gets more right and or because she’s a female she gets spoiled more? This illistrates gender inequality even within the home this could even be seen as to where gender inequality starts. Sad thing is this causes lots of families to seperate. That’s why today I felt was appropriate to have tips on how to have a good family life.

WORD(s) OF THE DAY
Autolatry – the worship of one’s self

S.A TRIVIA QUESTION

What is the name of the capital city of the North West Province.? Its slogan is the city of goodwill.

A – Mafikeng B – Potchefstroom C - Klerksdorp

The answer is A – Mafikeng

.....here's some info
The original name of the city, Mahikeng, literally means "the place among rocks". The name refers to the volcanic rocks that provided temporary shelter to Stone Age humans in their hunt on animals drinking water in the Molopo River. Mafikeng later attracted the attention of the world during the Anglo Boer War/ South African War of 1899 to 1902. Today Mafikeng is a vibrant provincial and commercial capital and a major tourism attraction for the aspects of the history, culture and wildlife of this unique region of South Africa.

DID YOU KNOW:
Cats have over one hundred vocal sounds, while dogs only have about ten. Also did you know that the common goldfish is the only animal that can see both infra-red and ultra-violet light. Lastly did you know There are only three animals with blue tongues, the Black Bear, the Chow Chow dog and the blue-tongued lizard.

Respect your parents. Do this not just by giving them respect, but by listening to what they say and trying your best to make them happy. Realize that you may be able to choose your friends, but you're born to your family. If there's nothing you can do to please your parents, you'll be happier if you just accept it for now and focus on pleasing yourself. Making others happy is secondary to being happy yourself. And things do change over time.

Realize that life is not always going to go smoothly. Try to face the "ups and downs" in your family life with positive thinking and a cool mind. But your family doesn't have the right to make you miserable just because they're family. Try to get along, but if it doesn't work, let it go.

Try to compromise whenever and wherever it's possible. When you see that the people who you love most are happy, you will have a feeling of great happiness. You will have to compromise a lot in life; family is the first environment to begin learning this important skill, amongst people who know you best and can guide you with their reactions, thoughts and suggestions.

Be honest with your parents, but bear in mind that they don't always need to know everything. If you get along well, you can open up, but if you don't, avoiding tender subjects can keep the peace. Sometimes saying nothing can be better for a family relationship than saying everything.

Feel free to communicate with each and every person in your family. Listen to them when they want to say something; try to be with them when they need you. Bear in mind that the needs of your family don't outweigh your own. Give them your time and love, not your life.

Dedicate a slot, it may be once a week or once a month in which you have a 'Family Time'. This could be anything, watching a movie together, playing a game, going out on a trip, but make sure it is something everyone will enjoy.

Eat together. Modern-day life makes this virtually impossible to do, however, it really does change your family life dramatically -- for the better.

Accept that your relationship with your family depends on both you and them. If they can't meet you halfway, you will be happier if you don't spend all of your energy making all the effort.

WE ALSO FEATURED:
We had an interview with Stranger Xaxaliva a professional nurse. I’ve also discovered that calling a male a male nurse is inappropriate, it’s discriminating in fact. Anyway he spoke to us about his career, some of the ups and downs. Also how he at times can be discrminated against being a male in the profession. Nonetheless he is more than proud of being a professional nurse.

We than interviewed Dr Cecile who had wrote about her experience with woman who earn more than men. She mentioned the complications it can cause in relationships, but on the positive side she said that more and more men are coming to terms with it.
