### GENDER HUB###

Good Day! How are you doing? I hope that you are absolutely fabulous on this oh so good Wednesday. Ah the middle of the week I love the sound of it must say…I for me to the week is like one long hike you start out all fresh and ready for the journey ahead then when you come halfway you are so happy and exited because you halfway there so if you think about it you half way through your week… So the last time in the Gender Hub I asked what for you is unladylike and what to you is ungentlemen like… this week I’m asking here on the Gender Hub…your opinion on unisex toilets…what do you think the reason I’m asking is because I’ve been to a few places before and they had unisex toilets and I felt a little uncomfortable now yesterday the same thing happened was at a coffee shop in town with a good friend…

Word of the Day:

SHAMBOLIC - chaotic, disorganized or mismanaged

Trivial Question:

Q: Name the Western Cape town famous for snowfall during the winter
months?
A: Ceres

Did You Knows:

When you blush, the lining of you stomach also turns red…Here’s another interesting fact… 'Go', is the shortest complete sentence in the English language

We had interviews with:

Sakeena Williams from the Virgo FC women’s football club and she spoke to us about something that she’s very passionate about SOCCER, so in the interview was about the love for her sport, how she got involved with the sport and soccer in general.

We also spoke to Peter Harley from No 2 drugs and yes to life a organization set up by Peter himself…Now usually we focus women doing great things in their community, but Peter is a gentlemen doing great thing in his community too. His also the winner of a Best Of Cape Town Award in the catergory Best Community Hero.

We also featured an interview with Marlon Parker and he’ll be chatting to us about an exiting new project called the Mom 2.0 Project and the project shows how women can use Mxit, Facebook, the Blog and other technology to express themselves and heal.

Tip of the Day:

None the less its time for your Tip of the Day and we talking about ways hold back your tears… Are you embarrassed or harassed when you cry? This will explain how to hold back inconvenient tears…

1. Try not to think about what is causing the pain. Think of other things, for example a time when you were having a good time with your family and friends.

2. Walk away from the situation before you start to cry.

3. Hold your eyes open wide and don't blink very often. It is easier to keep the tears from starting than it is to stop them after they begin to fall.

4. While not moving your head, look up with your eyes. It is almost impossible to cry when you do this.

5. Pinch yourself somewhere or gently bite your tongue with your teeth. To re-direct your attention to a localized, controllable physical pain.

6. Relax your jaw. This may seem weird, but it does help. Don't tighten your jaw, just relax. Open it once or twice, maybe.

7. Do give yourself time privately to cry. About this specific trigger as well as generalized feelings of sadness or fear that you may have. If you are all bottled-up, you will likely be more prone to crying in public or in situations where you would rather not cry.

8. Sometimes people don't know that they are hurting you. If you don't let them know by crying, let them know in some other way or stay out of this type of situation if you can.

9. Make sure you need to hold back tears in a given situation. Keeping a "stiff upper lip" out of vanity or stubbornness can be exhausting. Letting people see that you are human can make relationships closer and help others feel more connected to and empathetic with you.
