###COMMUNITY BUZZ###

Good Day! How are you doing? I hope that you are absolutely fabulous on this oh so good Thursday. I don’t know, but yesterday for me was one of those days that just seemed to drag maybe because it just started out so hectic having to rush my way to work, I couldn’t wait for Thursday to come for some reason…but Thursdays come so so quick…hey but I’m not complaining…Just a reminder that today in fact is the 2nd October 2008 and Did you know that it is the 276th day of the year… Now I know that I’m getting a head of myself with the Did You Know’s you gonna have to keep listening for that…but the scariest thing for me is the fact that there are only 90 days left of year…such a little 3 months if you think about it… can you believe it…However on this particular day it also means it’s Community Buzz Thursday so it’s all about you and your community from 9 until 12…

Moving onto today’s show we had all the usuals such as you’re Word of the Day, your SA Q&A, you’re Tip of the Day, Job Shop and Information Guide.

We featured interviews with:

Elana Meyer who has retired from competitive racing, but now heads up the Jag Foundation so, she spoke to us about the foundation the aim of the foundation and how it helps thousands of young athletes in many communities.

We also spoke to Hans Zwiets and Herbie Eichel and they’ll be chatting to us about a handyman training scheme that they run.

Lastly we featured an interview with Georgina Julies and she’s from the Bavaanskloof Community Feeding Scheme so she spoke to us about the feeding scheme and how it helps those who are less fortunate.

Word of the Day:

FRACAS - a noisy disturbance or quarrel

Trivial Question:

Q: Name the biggest hospital in South Africa?
A: Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital

Did You Knows:

Laughing lowers levels of stress hormones and strengthens the immune system…I didn’t know that…And listen closely to this one… Every time you sneeze some of your brain cells die

Tip of the Day:

I’ve got your tips on ways to bounce back after a disappointment… Bouncing back from disappointment is one of the most important skills you can have in life. You can apply this technique to almost anything you want to.

1. Realize that you can't have everything in life. Good things and bad things are going to happen, but you can always come back and make good things happen.

2. Fix it. If you have done something wrong, it's not going to fix itself. If you need help fixing something, ask someone.

3. Realize that you are not perfect. You are not perfect, and no one else is (or ever will be for that matter). A low self esteem will hinder, not help, you.

4. Take each setback as a challenge. Instead of thinking that you are so unlucky, take it as a chance to succeed above everyone's expectations.

5. Is the glass half empty or is it half full? Enough said.

6. Talk to someone. Sympathy can do wonders for a tired soul.

7. Don't wallow. Sitting around and moping will get you nowhere. You only have one life, so make the most out of it.

8. Help someone else out. Doing this will make you forget about your own problems, which you shouldn't normally do, but it will certainly make you feel better.

9. Be realistic. There's nothing wrong with shooting high, but you can shoot too high. If you do this, only tears and frustration will come out of it.

10. Keep your head up! This is probably the most important rule of all of them. Everyone makes mistakes. You're not alone. So buck up and get moving!
