BY DENISIA ADAMS

Hay there peoples how you doing today I hope you doing not just good but flipping awesome.
It’s Friday and what a lovely feeling, it’s the end of the working week for some of us now bare in mind that there are those that have to work weekends but trust-you-me in Cape Town I’ve come to see or learn that people in Cape Town… if it’s Friday or Saturday and not forgetting the notorious Thursday night....nothing stops them from getting loose(having fun). Whether they got two hours of sleep they get up and drag themselves to work……Which I must applaud because I have to admit I couldn’t do that….. besides it being the much anticipated day of the week, Friday it’s also the beginning of the month August which means we are 30-31 days away from spring. Spring where the flowers blossom embracing our fields with playful colour and the air as crisp fully fresh as can be…Yes… from that, you can guess I love spring….. That’s what I think of when I think of spring.

Anyway.. lets get back to the Fantastic Friday edition of the Morning Cruise and what we had going on in our studios. We brought you the Fantastic Friday Word of the Day as well as the brain-teasing S.A trivia question, the much needed tips in the Tip of the Day and then very interesting arts and culture interviews, lastly we always end on a good note with a inspirational words in our quote of the day.

WORD OF THE DAY:
Frugivore [froo-juh-vawr, -vohr] - the name giving to animals who feed on fruit

S.A TRIVIA QUESTION (Q & A):

Q. When does bushradio celebrate their birthday? On this day bushradio officially started
broadcasting legally as a community radio station.

A- 13th August, B- 9th September or C- 9th August
Ans. C- 9th August

TIPS OF THE DAY:
tips for driving in the rain.

Make sure to have your hazard and not only your headlights on .on strong down pours as people may not be able to see clearly at this point and make sure that you mind your speed.

Spraying rain guard solutions to your windshields and side-mirrors can also be a good help to make sure you have a clear view/ visibility of the road with or without wipers on.

Paddles or pool of water on sides of the street should be avoided as this will drag down your tires and make your car spin. you dont have to worry if your driving 30-40kph, but on freeways, this is a disaster. Good tyres are always a plus but its useless if you dont take care and mind your driving.

If the rain becomes so heavy that you can hardly see the car in front of you, pull over to a safe location like a rest stop, gas station or convenience store until the rain begins to clear and you feel you can see more clearly. As your mother always said, it is better to be safe than sorry.

WE ALSO FEATURED:

An interview with the soulful and very popular S.A jazz artist Ernie Smith, who had a chat with us about his career also about his lastest work of art called, Everything around me. A great album for you jazz lovers with songs like Do you Remember?, Kissa and many more.

We also had an interview with very talented and versatile Larey Marks getting the youth to share in his love of arts and culture in his community. Larey Marks is the creative director of dance session group from Mitchell's Plain called the FBI(freestyle by Intention). He spoke to us about the success of the group as well his passion for the arts.

Lastly we ended our show with an interesting documentary about South African Dizu Plaatjies and his African instruments. Dizu Plaatjies is a traditional music specialist and lecturer at UCT(university of cape town).

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

WILLIAM ARTHUR WARD WHO SAYS: Flatter me, and I may not believe you. Criticize me, and I may not like you. Ignore me, and I may not forgive you. Encourage me, and I will not forget you. Love me and I may be forced to love you
