The Morning Cruise
Morning
cruise was joined by Sonwabo Vena, who is a social
entrepreneur passionate about helping society use technology to
make their lives easier.
The latest project he
has developed is called CaraCara, an app that helps people who struggle to
count bulk change in a taxi. With high levels of mathematics and financial illiteracy
in the country, it is no surprise that disputes will arise in taxis when taxi
change is calculated, especially after a long day of work.
The app is simple
and easy to use. It counts change and stores the change in relation to the
amounts paid in a taxi minibus. The value he believes he
can bring further is knowledge through this innovative interview to further and
enhance the outlet's objective of bringing information that is useful to the
public for them to make informed decisions based on facts and tools they have
been provided.
Sonwabo mentioned
that it can be quite challenging and that creating the app and not seeing the
results yet that he had hoped to see is tiring, but then he also remembers that
if he gives up, it will feel like his giving up on his dream.
Ultimately he
believes that people need to have the technology in their hands in order to
learn. He wants people to live in a world where everyone has what they need.
