This Day In History

When the settlers arrived in the Cape, they used fire arms and horses to win wars, raid cattle and the subsequently reduce the Koisan to servants. However once so often the settlers would let the cattle graze further, and this would result in the Khoisan seizing them. On the 13th March 1701, the Khoisan are reported to have looted more than 400 of their stolen cattle from the settlers. This resulted in constant battles over cattle. Since the Khoikhoi did not have fire arms, they were almost always defeated.
