By Denisia Adams

Good day to you, hope you doing well. Today was Gender Hub Wednesday where we focus on all things concerning gender. Checkout what we had going on in the show:

WORD(s) OF THE DAY
ABRADE :
scrape or wear away by friction or erosion.

S.A TRIVIA QUESTION
Why do they call the powerful south- easterly in Cape Town the Cape Doctor?

Answer: the south-easterly wind clears the Cape air of pollution

Here’s some info:
Though forceful in character, the “Cape Doctor” visits infrequently, arriving only when the Fairest Cape needs to freshen up. The wind drapes Table Mountain’s flat-topped summit with a white "tablecloth" of cloud.

TIP OF THE DAY
How to Bounce Back From Embarrassment

Understand your embarrassment.
Mark Twain once wrote, "Man is the only animal that blushes. Or needs to." If we weren't aware of our actions, we wouldn't feel the need to be embarrassed. To better understand your situation, start by determining exactly what you did and figuring out whether the situation could have been avoided.

Keep a sense of perspective.
When something embarrassing happens, people tend to think that everyone witnessed what we did, which is a self-centered view. In reality, maybe no one saw it or only a few people did. Take some time to think about the situation instead of reacting immediately.

React appropriately or use humor.
Remember that whatever you've done, chances are, it's been done before. Overreacting or trying to cover up your embarrassment can make matters worse, and sometimes humor can make the situation less awkward.

Change your behavior.
If the circumstances of the embarrassment were within your control and you've hurt other people, you'll need to think about becoming more sensitive to what your actions and words mean. By becoming more sensitive to your surroundings, you'll reduce the risk of embarrassing situations in the future.

WE ALSO FEATURED:

An interview with Tino Bornman professional makeup artist who spoke about his career the ups and down.

We then spoke to Anton Marshall who wrote for women24 an article called, “Baby Daddy”. About the plight of a man wanting to understand what a women goes through during pregnancy. So much so that he wore a “pregnant suit” and literally did almost every his wife had to do. Question: As a woman would you really want your husband or boyfriend etc to go through what this guy had done? And as a man would you go to such lengths to understand and support your wife or girlfriend.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Johnnetta Betsch Cole:

If folks can learn to be racist, then they can learn to be anti racist. If being sexist is not genetic, then, people can learn about gender equality.
