S.A TRIVIA QUESTION
Is Paarl one of the three oldest European settlements in South Africa?

TRUE or FALSE
Answer: True

Here's some info
In 1687, on the banks of the Berg River, farmlands were given to Dutch settlers, just 30 years after Jan van Riebeeck's landing at the Cape. The fertile ground and the Mediterranean climate provided perfect conditions for farming. The settlers planted orchards, vegetable gardens and above all, vineyards.

DID YOU KNOW
The word millionaire was first used by Benjamin Disraeli in his 1826 novel Vivian Grey. Also did you know the first credit card was issued by American Express in 1951.

TIP OF THE DAY
SHOPPING WITHOUT BECOMING A VICTIM
1. Avoid carrying large amounts of money.
2. Never leave valuable possessions in the trolley.
3. Don't allow your children to go to the public toilet on their own.
4. Put wallet in an inside coat or front pants pocket, not a back pocket.
5. Carry your bag around your neck and diagonally across your body. Don't carry it hanging over one shoulder.
6. Be alert when the cashier is scanning your items as the customer before you could put some of your items in his/her shopping bag.
