ART-C FRIDAY
DID YOU KNOW FACTS
Plants "React" and "Remember"
Scientists say that plants have the capacity to "remember" and "react" to information contained in light. They found that when just one leaf was exposed to light, the entire plant responded, in the form of light-induced chemical reactions. These reactions continued even when the plant was in the dark, demonstrating the plant's capacity to "remember" information. Furthermore, the stimulation of a chemical reaction in one leaf cell caused a cascade of events that was immediately signaled to the rest of the plant via a specific type of cell that acts as a sort of "nervous system" for the plant.
