DID YOU KNOW FACTS

Delaying school start times could significantly improve the sleep times, moods, and health of students. Biological changes in teenagers' circadian rhythms make it difficult for them to fall asleep before 11 PM. Since they still need slightly more than nine hours of sleep each night, an ideal wake time would be about 8 AM. Students at a Rhode Island school that shifted the start of its school day from 8 AM to 8:30 AM as part of a study reported longer average sleep durations on school nights and fewer feelings of unhappiness, depression, annoyance, and irritation.

TIP OF THE DAY
Parenting Tips for teens

Overprotective parents tend to produce children who are fearful, anxious and lack confidence in their own abilities. Even though the parents are undoubtedly acting out of love, their actions are often based on their own worries, fears and feelings, not necessarily what’s in the best interest of the child. If teens aren’t given the opportunity to face and overcome challenges, they never learn that they are capable of doing so.
Here are a few ways parents can begin to let go and help their teen blossom into a healthy adult: http://www.byparents-forparents.com/parenting/are-you-an-overprotective-parent.htm
