DID YOU KNOW FACTS
Today Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel was born. Gabrielle was a pioneering French fashion designer whose modernist philosophy, menswear-inspired fashions, and pursuit of expensive simplicity made her arguably the most important figure in the history of 20th-century fashion. She was the only person in the field to be named on TIME Magazine's 100 most influential people of the 20th century.
Her stylish, elegant designs revolutionized fashion during the 1910s, freeing women from the uncomfortable and stiff apparel worn at the end of the 19th century. Whether by chance or by design, Chanel furthered her own image: the woman of the 20th century, embodying independence, success, personality, style, and confidence. Coco made sure women would love her products.

Dr Vaughn Stannard from an organisation named Beautiful Gate in Crossroads Cape Town. Dr Stannard says the primary focus of the organisation is to protect children, children who have been abandoned, orphaned and run aways. The organisation also focuses on reuniting these children with their lost families which is followed by counselling. Dr Stannard mentioned how heartbreaking the process is families sometimes are unwilling to accept the children, they’re unprepared or finically incapable. Lots of these kids are HIV positive which causes them to be marginalised from their families and their communities. There is obviously a big need for a change in community members attitudes for it’s not only the neglect and abandonment for the childrens parents or families it’s the neglect of their communities.
