Bush Radio Staff Development At Greenpop

GREENPOP

On Tuesday January 23rd, The Bush Radio team went to staff development at Greenpop, a local NGO focused on urban greening and reforestation.  Deon Luow the urban greening project manager at Greenpop showed us around and taught us about identifying different native plant species.

The NGO focuses on sustainable urban greening, forest restoration projects, spreading environmental awareness, and activating people to become environmental stewards across Sub-Saharan Africa.

We picked up trash in the garden, and then we cut and propagated plants.  Deon talked to us about all the different ways Greenpop is involved in the local community, from the projects they do with kids to the Forestfest weekend where people come from all over to plant trees and talk about sustainability while eating food together and hanging out.

We had so much fun learning about urban greening and how Greenpop is making Cape Town a more environmentally friendly city! This is a link to see how you can get more involved in the project https://greenpop.org/get-involved/individuals/
