Positive hope with Good Stories

Today on the MorningCruiseShow,we were speaking to Thula Mkhize the CEO of an organisation called Good Stories.

They use unique and dynamic techniques to expose communities to the other side of HIV/AIDS, the positive side, the side that promotes responsibility, a healthy living and most of all, a changed and a positive mind-set towards all HIV/AIDS related issues.

Through documenting and sharing Good Stories, they change mind-sets, and give people hope. They prove that HIV/AIDS and TB is not the end and there life after that blood test. Fact of the matter is that the biggest killer is not the virus itself but your state of mind, which is driven by what you see around you, in your community and the media.

They have really came up with a way to change people perspectives when it comes to living with HIV/AIDS...it's not the end of the world. They also educate on the different ways of getting HIV other than the sexual transmitted way.

Times have changed and living with HIV/AIDS and TB is really not as hectic as it was likw back in the days where the virus was known to be a bad thing and people would literally run away from you if they knew you had it, and that was because there was little information about the them and there was no medication to cure them.

Now it should really not make you want to end your life because you are embarrassed, ashamed and you don't know how people will treat you when you disclose this to them, when it comes to disclosure, you do not have to tell anyone about if you are not ready you should only tell people that are important to you and that you feel safe around.

They encourage people living with the HIV/AIDS and TB to take their medication and use protection when engaging in sexual activity. The organisation has programmes that help uplift people and help them get through life.

Please do like their social pages, make donations or if you are in JHB go over and volunteer it is really for a good cause.

With organisations like Good Stories, they really help in lowering the stigma's of viruses and help you see that you still have a long and beautiful life ahead of you and you should enjoy it.
