Poor housing for South African Army Veteran's

On the MorningCruiseShow we had talks with the Bazile Mtungane who is a chairperson for the Belhar military veterans village committee who was sharing with us sad information about the houses they were given as Military Veteran's of South Africa.

The houses that are built for Veteran's that come from all South African military forces such as  members of Azanian People’s Liberation Army, Azanla, Umkhonto weSizwe, the Transkei Defence Force and even the apartheid regime’s South African Defence Force.

They were handed over houses in Belhar were as before, they were homeless and had nothing, they were so excited for getting these houses but that surprise turned into a horror when  they saw how poorly built the houses were. The walls are cracked, the whole house is tiled and that brings in alot of cold and they get sick because of the mold and fungus that they breathe that is inside their homes and on top of everything when they get power failure the sewage stops and the build up of toilet waste comes back up the toilet and spills inside their home's. The company that was given the tender did a very poor job.

Currently they are communicating with Human Department of human Settlement and they agreed that those who would like to move out and get new homes they should write their names down and those who wish to stay they can and people will come and fix their homes... But still today nobody has come to help them out.

As a Veteran he feels like the government is failing them, majority of the military veterans have no jobs nor evens income, they need something to sustain them and their family... They feel like they have been neglected but they have worked so hard for this country.

They would appreciate if they could get the help of the media to get their message across and  have people see what they are talking about so that they can witness what is happening and see what their living conditions are.
