Them/2wo: A
Fashion and styling collective
The morning cruise was joined by two young creatives,
Mikhail Brown and Naledi Radebe, the founders of a Digital fashion and styling
collective called them/2wo. Them/2wo is an Instagram-based editorial platform
where you see Mikhail and Naledi experiment with many genres ranging from club
kid chic to avant-garde couture.
Although both individuals
currently reside in Johannesburg, Naledi and Mikhail spent the first few years
of their youth growing up in Cape Town before moving up North with their
families. Before founding them/2wo, Naledi and Mikahil worked predominantly in
the media industry with Mikhail writing on politics and fashion for the Sunday
Times and Naledi being a presenter for BET (entertainment and lifestyle). The
work does not end there for the creative pair, just a week ago, Naledi and
Mikhail had a very productive week in Cape shooting and gathering some
significant content for their preview of Season 3 by them/two. Keep a look out
for that on their socials.
When asked about the work
they have, Naledi replied “ We are typical millennials, we are everywhere at
once. Khusi then followed up by asking whether they are coping with the
workload which Naledi replied “ You have to be aware of the pressure we are
under as millennials, especially as creatives because you are never sure when
your next project will be” - a powerful statement by Naledi. Mikhail was then
asked how them/2wo was started and he replied by saying “ Them/two was started
as a reaction to the fall of paper outlets” - and in the midst of covid, that
is where it all began. You can now find Mikhail and Naledi bending genres of
fashion and style to make it their own and the most beautiful thing is, that it
is presented to the viewers via their Instagram page “@them/2wo”.
