Dr. Ronald Fortune

DR. RONALD FORTUNE

The Morning Cruise was joined by the amazing Dr. Ronald Fortune who explained to us more about Christal House based in Ottery for over 22 years. Christel House transforms the lives of impoverished children around the world—breaking the cycle of poverty and building self-sufficient, contributing members of society.

The main aim of Christal House is education and a strong character development program supported by regular healthcare; nutritious meals, guidance counseling, career planning, family assistance and College & Careers support.

They offer global standards so that children may confidently compete in a global world. Christal house does not just subsidise children. They invest in them towards creating a long-term relationship.

Ronald shared with us that anyone can make a difference by just running, walking, or even jogging. With the owner “Christal”, passing away in 2020, she left behind a school that would still remain supported and an amazing staff still looking out for the children. Ronald mentioned that they survived through Covid with help from rain wifi that allows the children to use their tablets during school hours.

He mentioned that he loves getting the kids involved in individual projects so that they have their own responsibility. In terms of heading forward with the school, Dr Fortune urges anyone to participate in the virtual fitness challenge in order to raise about R300 000 for the children. Many children come from poor communities and he shares that those are the people mainly taking place, but he would love business people to get involved.

Anyone that is interested can check out www.charityfootprints.com and look for Christal House on the platform. Dr.Fortune wants to assure the public that any donation does go to the child by a warm meal everyday.

In this world of poverty, Ronald mentioned that we become who the needy children relies on and also shared that the virtual challenge that was done gained them 150 people registering and would love more people to join.  If anyone is interested they can contact the Jameelah at 0217049402 or check out the website at SA.ChristalHouse.org.
