Celebrating 65 years of The Masque Theatre; a spotlight on talent and community engagement

This Monday we welcomed in our studio, Daniel Enticott, chairperson and volunteer at the Masque Theatre. The theatre is almost celebrating 65 years of magic onstage, as they say so themselves.

At the heart of the The Masque's mission is a commitment to nuture and showcase talent across all ages. The current projects highlight the theatre's dedication to really make engaging and enriching experiences for the audience, but also for the participants themselves.

Even though they aren't focused on age, they do foster young talent through out its Youth and Curtains Up Clubs, which cater to 8 to 16-year-olds. These clubs offer a creative outlet and professional guidance, they learn important life skills such as confidence, that can even be used off stage, in everyday life.

For those more interested in the technical and creative aspects of theatre, they host Bootcamp workshops in; set design, sound and lightning, and musical direction, so even if you do not perform on stage yourself, you can still find your spark somewhere else. Additionally, the theatre hosts a playreading series, giving writers the chance to see their new scripts brought to life and inviting the community to participate in the development process. There is a deep connection with the community and the theatre, it's mostly build upon volunteers with a soft spot for this particularly theatre. That way they are still standing, says Daniel with a little wink to Elton John's song.

In celebration of its remarkable 65-year history, The Masque Theatre will hold a special gala on 12 October, marking a milestone of magic onstage.
