Today we had the honor of hosting 42 Unbreakable, a non-profit organization, founded by sisters Kayla (27) and Salita Jenecker (24). The two sisters, joined by their mother Barbara, told the inspiring story of how Salita overcame her bullying and turned her pain into power for something positive.

Having been bullied herself for three years by forty-two high school classmates, Salita decided that she would use the pain she endured as the motivation to make a change for the better. She knew that she needed to start an anti-bullying campaign where people could be aware of the dangers of bullying. Salita recounts how alone and powerless she felt during those hard times because she felt like she had no one to speak to and to listen to her. Never wanting anyone to ever feel how she felt at the time, Salita founded 42 Unbreakable so that she could use her voice to help those who are voiceless.

Kayla, the co-director, decided to join 42 Unbreakable after seeing how helplessness her family was in getting help for Salita, whether that was with the school board or an organization via social media. Kayla said that she never wants any child to ever go through the pain her sister experienced or the struggle her family had to go through to be heard.

Salita relayed the drastic toll the bullying took on her mental health to the point where she would feel so anxious and just break down from the stress. Salita expresses her disappointment in her school and the education department as they both failed her by not being a safe haven where she could excel academically. She hopes that through her campaign she can finally get educators to understand and realize that it is their duty to help their pupils; it is their responsibility to believe their concerns and taking action to solve them.

Kayla said that a lot of bullying stems from what children are exposed to at home such as drugs, alcoholism and violence and leads them to project that to other children through the form of bullying. She went on to say that once the root of the problem is found, schools can implement solutions to combat those issues so that bullying can be stopped. Barbara and Kayla said that they hoped to work with the education department to "eradicate" bullying and that facilitators and psychologists can work within schools.

Salita wanted to leave a message stating that if you are being bullied that you do have a voice and that you are not alone, there are people out there who want to help you. She lastly just wanted to remind listeners that no matter what they are going through, they are unbreakable!
