Amohelang Rooiland

AMOHELANG ROOILAND

Morning cruise was graced by the talented ballet dancer named Amohelang Rooiland. ‘Amo’, has been accepted into the world renowed Rambert School of Dance in London.

Amo took us down memory lane and started dancing at the age of 3-years and has achieved a lot along her dance journey. She also mentioned to our morning cruise presenter, Khusi, that attending Rambert will give her a chance to broaden her dance career by exploring the market abroad as well as representing South Africa.

She believes it will show a young black child that anything is possible as long as you remain focused and determined to achieve your dreams and passion. According to Rambert, dance is and amazing way to express ones-self as well as expressing emotions in various ways. Rambert’s individual dancers are characterized by; creativity, individuality, artistic expression and technical skills.

Amohelang also shared that the trip itself costs lots of money, she still needs about R150 000 to be able to make the trip. Amo also mentioned that she was set to leave in September already but due to lack of funds the school has offered to postpone it till early January next year.

Miss Rooiland also shared that she’s been dancing her entire life and that there was a period where she had stopped but everything felt out of place. She decided to return to dance and that’s when she decided to apply for ballet schools, thus including Rambert, where she got accepted. She says that she looks forward to going and starting her new life and journey in the UK and shared her contact information if anyone would like to donate you can contact her at amohelang@loop.org.za
