DJ Asha Brings the Heat!

This Monday, The Morning Cruise was lucky to have DJ Asha join us for his very first appearance on Bush Radio! Not only did he deliver a smooth, soulful deep house set that had Khusi dancing the whole time, but he also shared a bit about his journey to deep house delightfulness.

Originally from Port Elizabeth and now based in Khayelitsha, DJ Asha started his music journey back in 2006. What began as a way for him and his brother to stay focused and away from the negative influences in their community quickly turned into a calling. Without formal training, he leaned into his passion, developing his skills organically and using music as both an escape and a way to uplift those around him.

Over the years, he’s become more than just a DJ - he’s a community-builder and a co-founder of a local jam session movement. He's dedicated to growing as both an artist and a voice within the local music scene.

When he’s not behind the decks, Asha works as a bartender in town. Balancing work and music isn’t always easy, but he makes time for what matters. Music, for him, is not just a creative outlet - it’s a way to stay grounded, stay busy, and stay inspired.
