On today’s edition of the Morning Cruise on Bush Radio 89.5FM, we had the privilege of sitting down with Aqeel Fransman, founder of the Aqeel Fransman Foundation, an inspiring organization dedicated to feeding and uplifting Cape Town’s underserved communities.
What began with just one pot of food to feed those in need has grown into a full-scale operation. By the end of 2021, the Foundation was running five large pots, and by 2025, they reached a major milestone: an event that served over 1,000 people. This achievement was made possible through the support of the wider community, with both Muslim and non-Muslim groups coming together, as well as significant backing from Nakhlistan.
Despite the many challenges that come with grassroots organizing — such as unexpected cancellations and logistical hurdles — Aqeel’s unwavering optimism shines through. He emphasized that whenever obstacles arise, new hands always seem to reach out to support the mission. It’s a testament to the power of faith, perseverance, and community spirit.
Looking ahead, Aqeel is passionate about the youth. He outlined plans for a major Youth Day event, aiming to offer mentorship, positive guidance, and alternatives for young people who might otherwise fall into harmful environments. His vision is clear: by investing in the youth today, we build stronger, more resilient communities for tomorrow.
The Aqeel Fransman Foundation maintains an active presence across multiple platforms, making it easy for anyone who wishes to support their cause. They can be reached via:
