Interview with Private Chef Murphy Mouange
Murphy Mouange is a remarkable
private chef who has carved a niche for himself in Cape Town by offering an
exquisite Japanese cuisine experience. Originally from Africa, Murphy has
seamlessly blended his cultural heritage with the delicate art of Japanese cooking,
creating a menu that is as diverse as it is delicious. Let’s dive into his culinary

Murphy originally from
DRC, he says that he used to love seeing his sister cook, he cooked a few
dishes back home and once he moved to South Africa, he realized that this is
his passion. He’s been 7 years in the industry. He started as a normal cook and
throughout the years ventured into Japanese cuisine. His reply regarding covid as
a chef is that it was a bad moment for him. He said that he started working at
a restaurant before covid and after covid they opened again for 4 months, after
the 4 months they closed for good.
He says for now he is
working on his own brand “Murphy’s Sushi House” and he works at a restaurant.
He adds plants to his foods and he created a plant Nigiri, which is something
new. He is very creative and it is easy for him to create his own dishes. He
has a wide variety of very interesting dishes.
He believes that music
and food can bring all people together. He creates videos of his food and posts
it and advises that everyone should check him out.
