Well folks, it’s Monday, which means we were joined in Studio
by a live musician for our Monday Live segment. Today we were joined by
Acoustic Liquid from Blouberg who characterizes his genre of music as Acoustic
Rock. His music is inspired by Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin as well as other rock
artists.
He began playing music at age 10 when he was introduced to piano
at school. As the only person in his family who plays an instrument, Acoustic
Liquid is a self-inspired artist. After learning the piano, he tried out the
guitar because the instrument was more portable. Now he writes his music both
on the piano and guitar and has even picked up the drums.
Acoustic liquid already has more than 30 songs on the market
and his dream is to travel and perform. In South Africa, he believes that there
is a lot of work to be done in terms of support for South African artists. He makes
a living solely off of his music, so local gigs and radio time are important
for his career. He would love to see higher support from locals and more opportunities
by the community to showcase local music.
Despite the fact that Acoustic Liquid has been playing music
since the young age of 10, he says that he is “still learning”. There are
always new chord progressions and harmonies and techniques to learn, so being a
musician is a never-ending learning process. To those aspiring musicians out
there, Acoustic Liquid’s advice is to “follow your heart” because despite the
amount of support you may have at home, musicians are self-empowered.
You can find music from Acoustic Liquid on itunes, Amazon,
and Google Play Store or go to the website, www.acousticliquid.co.za. Also follow
the artist on Facebook on his page, Acoustic Liquid.
