This morning on Bush Radio 89.5 FM, The Morning Cruise highlighted a festive event serving an essential cause: protecting and supporting children affected by violence. On air, Patrick Salomon, director of Molo Sangolo, shared the story, impact, and latest news from this organization, which has been working in Cape Town communities for 46 years.
Molo Sangolo: 46 Years of Commitment to Children
Founded nearly half a century ago, Molo Sangolo has built a strong reputation for supporting children facing violence and abuse. The organization offers rights education programs, psychological support, empowerment workshops, and activities to help families reconnect after trauma. Patrick emphasizes the importance of teaching children about their rights—because the more they know, the better they can protect themselves and others. The association mainly works in under-resourced areas like Atlantis, Delft, and Bothasig, where violence is unfortunately common. Their work is closely tied to schools: educational sessions, after-school workshops, and even peace marches involving dozens of schools.
Breaking the Silence and Rebuilding Confidence
Talking about sexual violence or abuse is never easy, especially for children. Molo Sangolo helps young victims understand what they’ve experienced, regain the confidence to speak up, and realize that it’s never their fault. The approach is based on dialogue, listening, and peer education, so that each child can rebuild and become an agent of prevention.
A Quiz and Music Night to Support the Cause
To continue providing these essential services, Molo Sangolo regularly organizes fundraising events. The next one: a quiz and music night filled with fun and solidarity. On the program: general knowledge quizzes (with a few questions about Molo Sangolo!), a DJ, a jazz atmosphere, dancing, team games, and plenty of prizes to win.
Patrick promises an evening full of laughter, encounters, and discoveries—where everyone can not only have a good time but also support a cause that changes the lives of vulnerable children. He insists: every contribution counts, as the funds raised allow the organization to continue its vital work with families.
Why Attend?
Beyond the entertainment, this evening is a real opportunity to make a difference for children in need. As Patrick reminds us, NGOs like Molo Sangolo play a crucial role in providing protection and support services, especially for the most disadvantaged families.
