Meet Sadboy SynC: A Rising Voice Mixing Emotion and Energy

This morning on Bush Radio 89.5 FM, we sat down with a young artist who’s been making waves in the local music scene: Sadboy SynC, also known as Viwe Fawuli. Originally from the Eastern Cape and now based in Khayelitsha, his music blends raw emotion with chill, atmospheric sounds.

From King William’s Town to the Mic

Sadboy SynC began his music journey back in 2019 while finishing high school. He’s always loved music but never imagined becoming an artist — until he discovered XXXTentacion, whose emotional style deeply inspired him to start creating his own songs.

The Name Behind the Vibe

He first went by the name SynC, representing the idea of blending different sounds together. As his music shifted toward more emotional, melancholic vibes, a friend began calling him “Sadboy.” He embraced the nickname and became Sadboy SynC — a name that reflects both his style and story.

A Sound That Hits the Heart

His music can best be described as moody, emotional, and chill. It often feels deeply personal, but he says much of his writing is based on what he sees, reads, and hears around him — not always his own life. Writing in the first person gives the songs a personal tone, but they often speak to shared human experiences.

Inside Cloud9: A Feel-Good Track Born by Surprise

His new single, Cloud9, came together almost by accident. A producer from Durban, Greenhouse Beats, sent him a beat pack. At first, Sadboy SynC didn’t connect with the Cloud9 instrumental — but one boring day at home, he gave it a try. He quickly created the hook but felt it needed something more. So, he invited two collaborators, Faith and Billy Flage, to add verses. Together, they turned it into a light, carefree song about living freely and embracing youth.

Positive Feedback and Growing Buzz

So far, the response to Cloud9 has been all positive. He’s received DMs on Instagram and Facebook from people who discovered the song through reels and posts. Listeners are resonating with his sound. While he hasn’t received any negative feedback yet, he’s open to it — seeing it as part of growing as an artist.

Goals for 2025: More Shows, More Music

One of his biggest goals this year is to perform live. He hasn’t done many live shows yet and really wants to connect with people in real life. He also plans to release a new song every month — and his next one, titled Fills, drops this Friday. It’s an R&B-inspired track with chill vibes, and it’ll be available on all platforms.

Advice to Young Artists

Sadboy SynC encourages aspiring musicians to educate themselves — not just about music, but about the industry.

“Know what kind of artist you want to be, what kind of music you want to make, and what your brand stands for. Learn as much as you can — it’ll take you far.”

Stream & Connect

You can stream Cloud9 on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and all major platforms.

Follow him everywhere at @zboy.sync — “My DMs are open 24/7. I’m always online and happy to connect.”
