Here is more info about the performers for this Saturday ::

Mr Black, poet/rapper, will bring thought-provoking social commentary, woven with strong African roots and a dash of Western flavour which will entertain and educate at the same time.

Robyn Radcliffe, spoken word artist, writer and social activist, will take you on a uniquely diverse journey, ranging from the trauma of birth and topical societal issues, to light-hearted, tongue -in-cheek humour that will push your buttons and leave you giggling.

Mr Jazz, life-coach, singer/song-writer and poet and his band, The Paradox, will be sharing his perfectly imperfect stories including his two popular radio singles, "Perfect Mood" and "Feel For Life." In Studio Today :: Eldene Jones, Tauriq Jenkins and Glen Arendse

Today we spoke to playwright Eldene Jones about her play Bitter Soet Einde.

Bitter Soet Einde (Bitter Sweet Ending) is a drama written by Eldene Jones

Eldene, Glen and Tauriq spoke to us about the play, prepping for the KKK festival coming up and all that it takes to bring a play from paper to the stage.

To get tickets to see Bitter Soet Einde you can get it through Computicet, Shoprite and Checkers.
We look forward to seeing and hearing more about this play and what it does to raise awareness on child abuse/molestation.

To find out more on the play check them out on Facebook here
Here is a synopsis on the play:

Stefanie was molested by George -her step father- when she was eleven years old. She had always kept the secret to herself. She had no one to talk, and decided, after completing school, to leave home and never to return to her pain. Years later, her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and died. The day of the funeral (which is when the play is set) is the first time Stefanie returns to her parental home. She sees her mother's funeral as an opportunity to take revenge by confronting George. The journey to the funeral becomes a trip back home to unfinished business.

This Day In History

When the settlers arrived in the Cape, they used fire arms and horses to win wars, raid cattle and the subsequently reduce the Koisan to servants. However once so often the settlers would let the cattle graze further, and this would result in the Khoisan seizing them. On the 13th March 1701, the Khoisan are reported to have looted more than 400 of their stolen cattle from the settlers. This resulted in constant battles over cattle. Since the Khoikhoi did not have fire arms, they were almost always defeated.

In Studio Today:: International Womens Day/Empowering Women

Today we celebrated International Women's Day with the theme of Empowering women
We spoke to a number of guests Mickey Meji, SWEAT’s Networking and Parliamentary Liaison Officer, Auntie Val, Lu Chase and Nandi for the IRIC.

Each gave us insight into what it is to be a woman in the 21st century, the struggles that women go through socially, economically and politically and correcting the imbalances within society as well as celebrating being a woman.

We received some insight into the exploitation of sex workers from Mickey and she gave us her opinion on the current situation in Atlantis where parents are forcing their children into prostitution to put food on the table.

Nandi from the IRIC also gave us insight into political and economic inequalities experience by working class women, she also explained what her programme building women's activism is about. Essentially they act as a source of knowledge and educate women about the economic rights - in that way ensuring that they are not exploited in the work place because of their sex.

Overall today was filled with inspiring strong women from different walks of life letting us know what they think about this special day as well as their opinion on the progression of women as a whole.

Contact SWEAT on their helpline 0800 60 6060 or on http://www.sweat.org.za/

Career Tip :: Think Interest

Think Interest, Feel The Passion

Grab a job that closest reflects what interests you and your knowledge. List it down and give yourself some criteria that helps you short-list the choices. It can be as simple as distance, size of company, type of industry, reasonable expected salary and so on and so forth.
Interest and passion is what will eventually guide you in your quest for the answer to "what job suits me". It’s tough to start but once you start, the small answers will eventually accumulate into a big answer.
