Well, today we spoke about an event that is happening this Saturday 01 September 2007. It is beeing held by the Nyanga Arts Development Centre. We spoke to the Project Administrator Michael Mayeki. BLOG POST 29/08/07.

Hey there. Hope I find you to be well today. I suppose you’re here to find out what we had done on the show for today? Well, here we go.
10:35 Have you ever had the questions in your head of, am I fit to be a parent? Where did I go wrong? Why is my son/daughter acting that way? If you don’t have children,yourMom or Dad might have been asking these questions. Before you think there is no help, think again, there might be. This is what we spoke about, during our first interview. The lady we spoke to was, Mrs Matroos (CEO) for the Chrysalis Academy. She spoke extensively about the work they do. Not only do they work with young people, but with the parents as well, so you can work together as a family. So, if you wish to have more info, here are the details and the person you can ask for. All of the best.

11:05 Next in line we spoke about about a programme called Community Leadership Academy. Representing the ESFA Institute speaking to us about the programme (Community Leadership Academy) was Charl Fredericks. It is an interesting venture that they are on for young people who want to make a difference in there comunities. If I were you, I’d try it out. You don’t just bring about change within your life, but the lives of people you care about. So, for more info or where you can get an application form, contact the Institute on the number below. Hope it works out for you.

11:35 The last interview we had done for today was about NICRO. NO! That is not the name of a person. NICRO is short for (National Institute for Crime Prevention and the Reintegration of Offenders). I suppose that says it all hey? We had an interview wit Cindy Cellierf (area co-ordinator). Here are some of the programmes they have running listed below. I did not write this, I’m not that good.
he Youth Empowerment Scheme (YES), a life-skills programme of 6 weeks;
Pre-Trial Community Service (PTCS), in terms of which the offender performs community service at a non-profit organisation;
Victim-Offender Mediation (VOM), in which the victim and offender meet and work out a mutually acceptable agreement;
Family Group Conferences, which are similar to VOM, except they involve the families of the victim and offender in the process; and
The Journey, aimed at high-risk children; the programme lasts between three and 12 months and involves life-skills training amongst other things.
So, if you wish to have a bit more information about them or wish to help in some way, form, shape or another, you can contact them on the number that follows.
